How Do I Start?

Residents interested in running for  a City position must first obtain and complete and AFFIDAVIT of IDENTITY and NOMINATING PETITION at City Hall.  Each candidate must obtain at least 20 signatures of REGISTERED, CITY VOTERS.

Signers may only sign the number of petitions equal to the number of openings. 

Candidates must go to the Genesee County Clerk's Office at 900 S. Saginaw St., Flint to obtain and complete a STATEMENT of ORGANIZATION for COMMITTEE if not currently in office or if running for a different office.

After obtaining the required signatures, all PETITIONS and AFFIDAVIT of IDENTITY should be returned to the City Clerk at one time. The Clerk will then review and verify the signatures.

Who Can Run for Office?

Eligibility requirements for becoming an elected official fo the City of Grand Blanc are as follows:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • City of Grand Blanc Resident
  • Registered Voter
  • 18 Years of age or older
