BIOGRAPHY
Mayor Susan J. Soderstrom was elected as Mayor in November 2011, becoming the first female mayor of the City of Grand Blanc.
Mayor Soderstrom served on the Grand Blanc City Council for 12 years prior to her election as Mayor. During her tenure as a Council Member she served on the Grand Blanc Parks & Recreation Commission for 10 years as a Commission Member and Chairperson. She served on the City Council Personnel, Public Safety and Legal and Legislative Committees. She also served on the Genesee County metropolitan Planning Commission.
Mayor Soderstrom's community service includes PTO president at Indian hill Elementary School, parent volunteer at the middle school and high school while her children were in attendance, Grand Blanc Soccer Booster, Jewish Community Services Board and Genesee County Medical Society Alliance.
Mayor Soderstrom earned a B.S. in Cellular Biology from the University of Michigan and a M.S. in Biology from the University of Michigan.
DUTIES
The Mayor appoints the members of the 11 committees that are instrumental in the management of the day to day City business. She works with these committee members as well as the Fire, Library and Parks and Recreation (including the Senior Citizen Committee) Commissions.
The Mayor works closely with the Grand Blanc City Manager to establish and coordinate City projects and agendas for these projects. In addition, Mayor Soderstrom chairs the City Council meetings.
