CHILD SAFETY SEAT TECHNICIAN

D/Sgt. Josh Edwards has been certified as a Child Safety Seat Technician. If you are a City resident and have questions regarding your child's car seat installations or usage, feel free to contact Officer Edwards at jedwards@cityofgrandblancmi.gov He will be more than happy to assist you with any questions you may have and will even stop by your house for a one on one demonstration on how to properly install your child's seat. For the residents who will be first time parent's, this would be great to take advantage of before you bring your child home for the first time.

Michigan's Child Passenger Safety Law requires:

Children younger than age 4 to ride in a car seat in the rear seat, if the vehicle has a rear seat. If all available rear seats are occupied by children under 4, then a child under 4 may ride in a car seat in the front seat. A child in a rear-facing car seat may only ride in the front seat if the airbag is turned off.

Children must be properly buckled in a car seat or booster seat until they are 8 years old or 4-feet-9-inches tall. Children must ride in a seat until they reach the age requirement or the height requirement, whichever comes first.

For your child's safety, the seat must be the right size for your child and must be properly buckled/attached to the vehicle.

If you are a parent, please utilize this service, it is free and should only take 10 to 15 minutes to ensure the safety of your child.
